Used Jaguar F-PACE Buyer’s Guide Model Years, Engines & What to Inspect
The Jaguar F-PACE was sold from the 2017 through 2026 model years, and 2026 is its final year as Jaguar moves to an all-electric lineup. The biggest dividing line is the 2021 refresh, which brought a redesigned cabin, the 11.4-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen and new mild-hybrid six-cylinder engines. For most shoppers, a 2021-or-newer example is the smarter buy.

Jaguar F-PACE Model Years and Key Changes
Every F-PACE belongs to one generation (code X761). Changes year to year are mostly engines, technology and trim names, so the model year tells you a lot about what you are getting.
| Model Year | Era | Key Changes | Shopper Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2017 | Launch | Jaguar’s first SUV. Supercharged 3.0L V6 (35t and S) plus a 2.0L turbodiesel (20d). | First-year build. Has the highest volume of owner complaints filed with NHTSA of any F-PACE year, so service history matters most here. |
| 2018 | Early | 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder gas engines (25t, 30t) join the lineup; infotainment response improved. | Four-cylinder models are the value end of the market. |
| 2019 | Early | SVR arrives with a 5.0L supercharged V8 (about 550 hp). 10-inch touchscreen and more standard safety gear. | First year for the SVR performance model. |
| 2020 | Early | Apple CarPlay and Android Auto become standard; trim adjustments. | Most-sorted pre-refresh year. |
| 2021 | Refresh | New styling and redesigned interior; 11.4-inch curved Pivi Pro touchscreen; supercharged V6 replaced by 3.0L turbo inline-6 mild hybrids; trim count reduced. | The key upgrade year. Pivi Pro is a big step forward in daily usability. |
| 2022–2023 | Refresh | Largely carryover. | Good balance of modern tech and used-market pricing. |
| 2024 | Refresh | Lineup simplified around R-Dynamic trims; plug-in hybrid P400e gets a larger 19.2 kWh battery in markets where offered. | Black exterior trim standard from R-Dynamic SE up. |
| 2025 | Refresh | SVR becomes the SVR 575 Edition with 567 hp. P250 and P400 carry over. | Many low-mileage examples on the market. |
| 2026 | Final Year | Carryover final model year as Jaguar ends gas-powered production. | The newest F-PACE you can buy; check for remaining factory warranty. |
F-PACE Engines and Trims by Era
Jaguar’s badges usually tell you the engine. On 2021-and-newer models, “P250” and “P400” refer to approximate metric horsepower; earlier “25t” and “35t” badges work the same way. “Mild hybrid” means a small 48-volt system that assists the engine; it cannot drive on electricity alone.
2017–2020
- 2.0L turbo four: 25t and 30t (from 2018)
- 3.0L supercharged V6: 35t and S
- 2.0L turbodiesel: 20d (early years)
- 5.0L supercharged V8: SVR (from 2019)
2021–2026
- P250: 2.0L turbo four, about 246 hp
- P340 / P400: 3.0L turbo inline-6 mild hybrid
- P400e plug-in hybrid (market-dependent)
- SVR / SVR 575 Edition: 5.0L supercharged V8

Which F-PACE Model Year Should You Buy?
If your budget allows, start your search at 2021. The refreshed interior and Pivi Pro infotainment change the day-to-day experience more than any other single update.
- Best overall: 2021–2026 P400 models pair the smooth inline-six with the modern cabin.
- Best value: 2021-and-newer P250 four-cylinder models, or a well-documented 2020 if you want to spend less.
- Performance pick: SVR (2019–2024) or the 2025 SVR 575 Edition.
- Approach with care: 2017 models. Plenty are fine, but insist on full service records and a pre-purchase inspection.

What years did Jaguar make the F-PACE?
The F-PACE was sold for the 2017 through 2026 model years in a single generation. It received a major refresh for 2021, and 2026 is the final model year as Jaguar transitions to an all-electric lineup.
What is the best year for a used Jaguar F-PACE?
For most buyers, 2021 or newer. The 2021 refresh added a redesigned interior, the 11.4-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen and mild-hybrid inline-six engines. A well-documented 2020 is the best pre-refresh option.
Which F-PACE years should I be careful with?
The 2017 model year has the most owner complaints filed with NHTSA of any F-PACE year. That does not make every 2017 a bad buy, but complete service records and a pre-purchase inspection are essential.
Can I still get a used F-PACE serviced now that production has ended?
Yes. Authorized Jaguar retailers continue to service the F-PACE, and Cole European’s service and parts center in Walnut Creek cares for Jaguar as well as Land Rover vehicles.
How powerful is the F-PACE SVR?
Earlier SVRs use a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 rated at about 550 hp (542 hp in some U.S. listings). The 2025 SVR 575 Edition raised output to 567 hp.
